Won’t you be my neighbor?

This place isn’t something I’d traditional post up.   Yes, Chris Robertson, originally of KRDB and now of Robertson Design, used to own the place and did the renovation, but it clearly isn’t of classic modern design.

However, it is right next to my place and I want good / interesting neighbors.

Here is the listing.

Bercy Chen Studios

There is pretty much no activity out there right now, so I give you some architecture pr0n instead.

A reader sent me a link to this remodel of what was once a traditional style home on Lake Austin to something much more.

Designed by Bercy Chen Studios (all pictures are via their website).

Full photo here.

Bercy Chen Studios tend to be more boxy on their new build and through a mixture of glass, wood, and outdoor space, they are warm and inviting places.  As much as the Lake Austin place is nice to gawk at I find this house more inviting to live in (though I’d highly prefer living on the lake):

Annie Residence.  More photos here.

Open Houses - Nov 22/23

I got nothing.   That means more time for the East Austin Studio Tour.

Please leave a comment if I happened to miss anything.

Big Empty

I tend to find Slate’s architecture pieces deeply unsatisfying but I liked this one one what happens when Big Box stores go empty.

Modern Home Tour - December 14th

The GoodLife Team, among others, have organized a modern home tour.  The intent is for it to an bi-annual event.  There will be a panel of architects at the happy hour at the conclusion of the tour.

The event will be held December 14th from 11am to 5pm.

More information at the tour website here.

I’ll pass along more info once the full listing of homes has been posted.

SOL

Developer description:

SOL (Solutions Oriented Living), the first true NET ZERO*  energy community of its kind, is currently underway in Austin and we’re exited to include you on this initial information update!

(*A net zero energy building produces as much energy as it uses over the course of a year. Net zero energy buildings are designed to be extremely energy efficient and have low energy requirements. To meet the remaining energy needs, net zero energy buildings use renewable energy generated on site, in this case photovoltaic panels.)

More info and blog.

Friends of Modern Austin

Banners that shows up here are not ads. At least not in the sense that I get paid for them.

They are just people (and the companies they run) who I happen to like a lot and want to support in their endeavors.
